present over perfect by shauna neiquist

If you have not read this book.. you need to go out and get it like yesterday! Shauna’s raw transparency is so refreshing. She literally just lays it all out there for anyone who struggles with giving more and more and more without ever stopping for breath. Shauna talks about how she was physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually drained by all that she was doing. For anyone who struggles with this same thing, this book is a must! I found so much freedom on the pages of this book. You can buy the book here: Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living.

Uninvited by Lysa Terkeurst

“As Jesus girls , we can’t walk in victory while wallowing in thoughts of defeat and rejection. We must carry with us the sweet aroma of knowing Jesus everywhere we go.” How good is that? Lysa Terkeurt is always so refreshing. Being a woman is hard. We compare ourselves to others and we also are so tempted to feel left out and uninvited. This book brings so much light to the issue of rejection. You can get a copy here:Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely.

Hello faithful followers! We are expanding jordantwhitlock.com. and I am so excited to not only write about my faith, but my family and my favorite products as well. Today I want to share some of the things that I’m loving this month! I’ve included affiliate links for my favorite items so that you can easily find them 🙂

Favorite Book: Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist.

This book is literally giving me life! We spend so much time trying to be perfect for others that we spin out of control. Shauna’s authentic words give us permission to breathe and to be PRESENT with our People! It is a must read for anybody struggling with that perfectionism bug like me!Present-Over-Perfect-Leaving-Behind-Frantic-for-a-Simpler-More-Soulful-Way-of-Living-0.jpg

One of my favorite quotes from the book: “Present is living with your feet firmly grounded in reality, pale and uncertain as it may seem. Present is choosing to believe that your own life is worth investing deeply in, instead of waiting for some rare miracle or fairytale. Present means we understand that the here and now is sacred, sacramental, threaded through with divinity even in its plainness. Especially in its plainness.”
