Welcome back! I pray that the verses from Isaiah are still encouraging and uplifting you. I’m excited about today because today we are transitioning from Habakkuk’s complaints to the Lord’s answer.
Habakkuk 1:5 ESV “Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.”
Let’s break this verse apart piece by piece because there are several good little nuggets tucked right in the middle of it.
“Look among the nations and see..”
The Lord calls Habakkuk back to the big picture. He shifts his focus from himself to the world outside of his problem. I wonder if the Lord is calling us to shift our focus from our problem to the big picture? The nations implies the area outside ourselves. We must shift our focus from our place in the problem to the area outside of us.
“wonder and be astounded..”
Be amazed at what I’m doing seems to be what the Lord is saying. Habakkuk I know it seems dark, but the light is brighter than the darkness. Instead of being stuck in your darkness remember and be amazed that I create light and I created life out of nothing. I will create life out of this situation too.
“For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.”
God is in the miracle business. He is always doing more than we could imagine or think. Habakkuk only saw the circumstance, but God saw the purpose and the plan. He knew that on the other side, there would be freedom and a new level of understanding of his greatness and love.
Today let’s choose to listen to the words of the Lord… He is doing a great work. It may not be packaged in a pretty little bow, but if he has allowed it to touch our lives, then he will bring purpose out of it.
Today I’m praying that we step outside our problem, we stand amazed at the greatness of our God, and wait with anticipation and arms wide open for the work the Lord is doing.
