God has been pursuing messed up people since the beginning in the garden.
Adam and Eve hid in their sin… but God came looking for them… and He came looking for you and me…
The word pursue means to follow and try to catch someone for a long time.
God constantly pursues us.. he never gives up on us. Even though we run and we choose our own wants above him, he continues to chase us, never giving up on his children.
I’ve heard the word pursue used so many times when talking about dating relationships… Many times I’ve heard the phrase “Girl, you gotta let that man pursue you… the chase is part of the fun!”
Isaiah 54:5 NIV says “For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”
So if earthly man has an innate desire to chase after the lady he wants as his bride, how much more will our Maker chase after us? He will persistently pursue us… speaking tenderly to his bride.
What does it feel like to know that the God of the universe cares about you enough to follow you around for as long as it takes to catch your heart?
Ask the Lord to take you back to the pursuit that took place for your Spirit. The pursuit of our Spirit is just the beginning of the journey with Christ. It’s the flood gate so to speak that opened the door for the living water to rush in and radically reconcile every other part of us.
Today take some time to journal the following things:
How did God pursue your Spirit?
Where did He meet you?
What has your life been like after He saved you?
