Reconciled Week Five Day Five

To live a life reconciled to God is such a beautiful promise. God created a way to reconcile us to himself, choosing not to count our sins against us and then gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Next week we will talk more about the ministry of reconciliation. Today let’s focus on our prayer life with God.

Growing up I always said my dinner prayers, morning prayers, and bedtime prayers. I had little chunks of time that I was “suppose” to pray. I would say basically the same thing at each prayer time, going through the script I had created for my daily prayers. When I got older I began to realize that prayer is not just a time to go through a script, it is really just taking time to talk to God. That’s it. About everything. The good.. the bad.. the ugly. It is such a beautiful time to lay our requests before his throne and to boldly ask for the things we need. It is a time to thank him, and a time to step in the gaps for those who aren’t strong enough to pray for themselves. It’s such a holy experience that can produce so much peace and fruit in our lives. No wonder the enemy tries so hard to trick us into just a daily to do list of prayer.

Prayer is our greatest tool for this battle. It is inviting God to do what only he can do and it takes the focus off of us and onto him.

Look at the following verses about prayer. Then take some time to ask God to strengthen your prayer life. To give you the courage to begin to ask him questions.. simple questions.. hard questions.. questions in between. As we begin to invite him into our hearts through prayer, we will begin to see his power explode in our lives.

1 John 5:14-15 ” 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

James 5:13-16 “13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Love this and so needed this. I need to learn how to pray and not pray the same prayer over and over. In order to have a close relationship with the Lord I need to focus more on his word and my prayer life.Thsnk you for sharing . Thank you sweet Jesus for opening my eyes this morning.
