Our theme verses for this study are 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NLT “And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
These verses have so many different levels and today let’s take time to talk about verse 18. In verse 18 it says God has given us the task of reconciling people to him. For us to be able to reconcile people to Christ, we have to be around people. We must take the time to connect with the people around us. As we go to our jobs, our schools, our grocery stores, our churches, we must go with eyes and hearts open to seeing the people around us. I think a lot of us have a tendency to become so focused on our problems that we don’t notice the people around us. If we take the time to see the people around us, our problems will start to seem smaller somehow. We might begin to realize that we aren’t the only ones going through something, and maybe, just maybe, we will begin to find courage for the battle because of the people around us.
1 Peter 5:9 says “Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
Let’s take time to see the people around us, knowing that others might be going through the same or similar sufferings than us, and let’s use our stories to connect with others through transparency and love.
